AquaTrakr™ is an affordable leak detection and notification system for water utilities using AMI systems. Stop the damage before it starts.
Is your utility experiencing any of these problems?
Even with an AMI system, leaks can run for days or weeks before anyone knows there's a problem.
AMI systems collect valuable data but can't notify customers when something is wrong.
Your AMI system collects meter read data but your customers can't see it.
Most customer portal solutions are overpriced because they were built for large utilities.
Proactive leak alerts and consumption information citizens can understand
AquaTrakr continuously reviews data for all metered accounts, even if customers never sign up for the portal.
Citizens receive alerts via e-mail, text message, and automated phone call before damage occurs.
An intuitive customer portal that makes consumption data understandable for customers of any age or technical ability.
Save money without sacrificing performance. Built for utilities that enterprise software companies often ignore.
AquaTrakr uses hourly meter reads from your AMI system and account information from your CIS/Utility Billing system. We set up a secure, automated data transfer. No back-transfer means a simpler, more secure integration.
Using AI and advanced analytics, AquaTrakr identifies continuous flow, irrigation problems, and abnormal use patterns that many AMI systems miss, catching issues before they become catastrophes.
Staff sees a prioritized list of accounts with potential problems, supporting usage data, and clear indicators of why each account was flagged. One click to notify by email, text, or automated call.
Customers can view their usage, set custom alert thresholds, receive notifications, and manage their account from any device. No app required.
Real-time oversight and reporting
Faster response, fewer angry calls
Track conservation and water loss
Two powerful portals: one for your customers, one for your staff.
AquaTrakr's Customer Portal gives your customers clear visibility into their usage, easy access to alerts, and simple tools to manage their accounts, all without calling your office.
Most leak detection tools are built for large utilities with deep pockets. AquaTrakr is built for everyone else. Accurate AI-based leak detection, simple customer notification tools, at a cost that makes sense.
A one-time setup fee plus a recurring monthly fee. No surprises.
One-time fee based on the number of metered accounts in your water system. Includes full onboarding.
Recurring monthly fee based on meter count. Everything included, no hidden add-ons.
JB Software Solutions (JBSS) builds software solutions for small and mid-sized utilities that enterprise software companies often ignore.
Our goal is to give your municipality the same capabilities the big players have: accurate leak detection, proactive notifications, full-featured customer portals, and AI-powered analytics that actually make sense of your data, without the expensive price tag.
AquaTrakr is our third leak detection platform for water utilities. Not our first attempt. Not a pivot. Our third. We know what works because we've built it, deployed it, and watched it perform at scale.
A 600,000-gallon leak at a vacant home in Castle Rock, CO showed us that faster data means fewer catastrophes. We built our first "poor man's AMI system" and saved 4 million gallons in year one.
Our first product, AquaHawk, was launched in 2011 and was one of the original leak detection & notification + customer portal systems available to water utilities. Deployed at more than 100 utilities nationwide, it proved the importance of using data to catch water-wasting problems early.
Our team then contributed to the development of Tyler Smart Meters, a water usage and leak detection/notification system integrated into the Tyler Insite online payments system (MunicipalOnlinePayments.com).
AquaTrakr is the product we couldn't build until now. AI-powered analytics, proactive alerts, and a customer portal simple enough for anyone to use. Preventing costly property damage, reducing wasted water, and enabling citizens to benefit directly from your utility's AMI investment.

AquaTrakr is our third leak detection platform for water utilities. Not our first attempt. Not a pivot. Our third. We know what works because we've built it, deployed it, and watched it perform at scale across the country.
It started with a frozen waterfall at a vacant home in Castle Rock, Colorado.
A neighbor spotted it first: water pouring off the first-floor deck of a large luxury home right into the walkout basement below. In Castle Rock, winter temperatures drop well below freezing.
By the time Castle Pines Metropolitan District shut off the supply, 600,000 gallons had run through the meter. Black mold spread through the house. It couldn't be treated. The home was condemned and torn down.
This wasn't a one-off event. With more than 1,800 service connections and a community full of frequent travelers and part-time residents, runaway leaks were a recurring problem.
At the time, the District used a drive-by AMR system that collected meter reads every 30 days. If a pipe burst on day five of the billing cycle, nobody knew until the end of the month. By then, the damage was done.
A full AMI system would have helped, but they needed something fast, using the tools they already had. We built them a "poor man's AMI system":
It didn't take long before we were catching pipe breaks in days. Instead of a toilet leak running for weeks unnoticed, we flagged it. We caught irrigation systems left wide open while homeowners were away. We even found problems when customers were in their homes, but had no idea anything was wrong.
A year later, the results were impressive:
But something else happened that no one anticipated. Customers started to trust their utility in a new way. The organization that used to just send a monthly bill was now calling to say: "Something looks off at your house, is everything ok?" That shift in the relationship turned out to be just as valuable as the water savings.
The experiment proved the concept: faster feedback from more frequent data saves water and protects customers. The District took the next step and invested in an AMI system. We delivered AquaHawk, our first commercial product, deployed at more than 100 utilities across the U.S.
When Tyler Technologies decided to build Tyler Smart Meters, a leak detection and notification system integrated into their online payments platform, they wanted expert guidance. JBSS staff joined their efforts leading product development and the sales process. Tyler Smart Meters is used by utilities all over the U.S.
In parallel, other members of our team were building large-scale payment and financial infrastructure for municipal governments and utilities. Systems that process millions of transactions daily, where security isn't optional and downtime means lost revenue. That experience shaped how we think about reliability, data integrity, and what it actually takes to build software utilities can depend on.
AquaTrakr is what happens when you take decades of hard-won experience and rebuild from the ground up with modern technology.
It connects to your existing AMI and billing systems, monitors every metered account using AI and advanced analytics, and delivers clear, actionable alerts to your staff and customers, before a small problem becomes a condemned house.
No enterprise price tag. Live in under 60 days. And hands-on support from people who have done this before and will work alongside your team until your project is a success.
The problem hasn't changed since that frozen waterfall in Castle Rock. Our ability to solve it has never been stronger.
